Planning for the Future

Improving Air Quality in the Fraser Valley

Poor air quality has many adverse impacts on human health, ecosystem health, the economy (particularly crop production, tourism, real estate) and overall quality of life. There is no "safe level" for many air pollutants.

Recognizing that good air quality contributes to health people, productive crops, healthy ecosystems, clear views, and an overall vibrant region, we are developing an Air Quality and Climate Action Plan (to replace the existing Air Quality Management Plan) to guide us towards achieving continuously improved air quality for the Fraser Valley region.

Air quality trend information is summarized in Highlights of Air Quality and Emissions Trends (1990 - 2013). In addition, annual air quality monitoring reports and emissions inventories (prepared every 5 years) can be found on our main Air Quality web page.
