Air Quality Advisory Issued
June 27, 2015
An air quality advisory has been issued for the Fraser Valley due to high concentrations of ground level ozone. It is expected these concentrations will continue throughout the weekend.
Residents are encouraged to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during mid afternoon when ozone levels are high. Exposure is of particular concern for infants, the elderly, and those who have underlying respiratory conditions. If you are experiencing symptoms such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing, please follow the advice of your health care provider and stay indoors in air conditioned spaces.
This advisory is expected to remain in effect until there is a change in the current hot and sunny weather conditions.
The Fraser Valley Regional District works in cooperation with Metro Vancouver, the BC Ministry of the Environment and Environment Canada to look after air quality. For more information, please contact Ken Reid with Metro Vancouver at (604) 240-0708.
