Western Painted Turtles Restoration Project

June 22, 2017

Cheam Lake Wetlands Regional Park is an amazing example of biodiversity and the importance of protecting sensitive environments. This week, the Province of BC, the Greater Vancouver Zoo, and Wildlife Preservation Canada released a number of young Western Painted Turtles into the lake for a species restoration project. Did you know that the Painted Turtle is the only native pond turtle left in British Columbia? http://www.bcreptiles.ca/turtles/westernpaint.htm
