Boston Bar North Bend Television Referendum

An assent voting opportunity (referendum) for electors within the Boston Bar and North Bend Closed Circuit Television Service Area will be held on the following question:

"Are you in favour of ending the Boston Bar and North Bend television service area by the Fraser Valley Regional District adopting Repeal Bylaw No. 1829, 2026?"

VOTER REGISTRATION AND ELECTOR QUALIFICATIONS

Registration of electors will take place only at the time of voting. Electors must be:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • Canadian citizens;
  • residents of BC for at least 6 months immediately prior to the day of registering to vote;
  • residents of the Boston Bar and North Bend Closed Circuit Television Service Area OR Non-Resident Property Electors in the Service Area for at least 30 days immediately prior to registering to vote;
  • not disqualified from voting in an election;
  • entitled to vote and have not previously votied in the assent vote.

Corporations are not entitled to vote or have a representative vote on thier behalf.

Mail Ballot Voting

Mail ballot voting is available to all eligible electors.

To apply for mail ballot voting, contact elections@fvrd.ca between September 21 and 4 pm on October 9, 2026. You must provide the following information:

  • your full name
  • whether you are registering as a resident or non resident property elector (NRPE)
  • residential address
  • if you are an NRPE, the property address in relation to which you will be voting
  • preferred method of delivery of your mail ballot package - either pick up at the FVRD office or by regular mail to an address you provide

Mail ballot packages will be sent out or available for pickup starting the first week of October until 4pm on October 9, 2026.

Applications to Volunteer to Act as a Scrutineer

Qualified electors within the service area may apply to volunteer as a scrutineer for or against the question to be voted on. Applications will be recieved between September 21, 2026 830am and October 1, 2026 430pm.

Appointments will be made by the Chief Election Officer on October 2, 2026.
