IMPORTANT NOTICE: Effective March 1, 2026, all applications must be submitted through the new online building permit system, now available on the myFVRD portal. Paper applications will continue to be accepted until February 28, 2026.

Building Permits

Building Permits ensure that all buildings comply with the safety, health, building and zoning requirements of the FVRD's Building Bylaw and the BC 2024 Building Code.

A Building Permit must be obtained before starting activities such as:

  • New Construction
  • Alterations
  • Reconstruction
  • Demolition
  • Removal, relocation or change of occupancy of any building or structure including excavation or other work related to construction
