FAQ

  1. How can I help keep activities safe?

    • Personal protective measures can be implemented to increase your comfort and safety. Please refer to all current recommendations from Health Authorities regarding the steps you can take to increase your safety at this time. Personal hygiene measures such as increased handwashing and/or sanitizing and ensuring 2-metre physical distance are required and encouraged throughout programs.
    • If you are sick, stay at home. If you appear to be sick, you will not be allowed entry.
    • Masks must be worn at all times when moving throughout the facility and when physical distancing cannot be maintained (e.g. spotting). You may remove your mask while doing physical activity, such as swimming or working out.  
  2. How do I register for activities?

    You can register by calling the rec centre at 604-869-2304 or you can register online. To reduce traffic at the rec centre, we are not doing in-person registrations.

  3. What can I expect at lane swim?

    • Double wide lanes with a capacity of 4 swimmers per lane. Each lane will operate in a clockwise direction.
    • Please stay in the lane you are assigned, as directed by staff upon arrival.
    • Physical distancing is required. Maintain a 2-metre distance from anyone who is not a member of your household.
  4. What can I expect at public swim?

    • Reduced pool hours to allow for additional cleaning and disinfection time between sessions.
    • Double wide lanes with a capacity of 4 swimmers per lane. Each lane will operate in a clockwise direction.
    • Please stay in the lane you are assigned, as directed by staff upon arrival.
    • Physical distancing required. Maintain a 2-metre distance from anyone who is not a member of your household.
    • The spray features, diving boards, and rope swing will not be available.
    • The minimum age required to swim alone is 13 years old. This is for the safety of patrons as parents and guardians cannot sit in the viewing area at this time.  
  5. Is Aquafit being offered?

    Not at this time. This program will be offered in phase 3 of our pool re-opening, within public health guidelines.

  6. Are the hot tub, sauna, and steam room open?

    Not at this time. These areas are closed due to the limited capacity available to the public and to ensure the safety of our patrons. These areas will be open in phase 4 of our pool re-opening.

  7. Are swim lessons being offered?

    Not at this time. Swim lessons will be offered in phase 3 of our pool re-opening, within public health guidelines.

  8. Why are you doing reservations? Why can’t it be first come, first served?

    We are following the guidelines of the Provincial Health Officer, as well as the Lifesaving Society. We need to eliminate line ups and large numbers of people gathering together.

  9. The activity I want is full. Can I wait and see if people who registered don’t show up?

    No. If people have registered they have reserved that space. You may call us at 604-869-2304 to be put on a waitlist.

  10. The activity I want is not full, can I join at this time?

    Yes, if there is enough room available then you will be able to register. Please register online or call us at 604-869-2304.

  11. Why are you collecting my personal information when I register?

    We are collecting personal information for COVID-19 contact tracing purposes. This way we will be able to notify patrons if someone that uses our facility is diagnosed with COVID-19 or is otherwise self-isolating due to COVID-19.

  12. Can I use the change rooms?

    • Change rooms will be available but will have a limited capacity. Please come ‘swim-ready’ to reduce wait times.
    • Change room use after your session has been limited to a maximum of 15 minutes to allow for proper disinfection in between each session.
  13. Are lockers available?

    • Certain lockers will be available during each session and you may request a locker key at the front desk when you come in.
    • Lockers require a quarter to use.
    • While some lockers are available, we would strongly suggest you come 'swim-ready' as we cannot open all lockers at this time to ensure proper physical distancing of 2-metres.
  14. Can you hold onto my wallet, keys, etc. while I swim?

    No. We do not want to be responsible for other people’s belongings. Additionally, we have to eliminate touching items that belong to other people.

  15. Can I sit and watch my child/family swim?

    No, the pool deck will not be open for viewing. Due to the capacity limit for our first aid room, the viewing area has been made into a temporary first aid station and will be closed off to public viewing at this time.

  16. What is the capacity? Where did you come up with the numbers?

    We are following the guidelines of the Lifesaving Society and have set our capacity limits based on those requirements. Capacity numbers are listed for each space in the facility.

  17. What is your refund policy?

    For online registrations, a refund will be issued with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. This will either be a credit on their account or a cheque refund. We are not able to provide debit or cash refunds at this time.

  18. Does the fee include swimming all day?

    Due to the limited hours and space available, patrons will pay for each session they have reserved.
