Funding Available to Non-Profits Through Regional Grant-in-Aid

June 17, 2021

Registered non-profit organizations who provide region-wide services in the Fraser Valley Regional District are invited to apply for assistance through the Regional Grant-in-Aid Policy.

The policy is designed to offer financial assistance to non-profit organizations or community groups that provide a service or benefit to the Regional District as a whole. The application deadline is August 31 and a maximum total annual budget of $50,000 is available.

Previous grant beneficiaries include Elizabeth’s Wildlife Centre, an organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of wildlife; Wildsafe BC, whose motto is keeping wildlife and communities safe; Canuck Place Children’s Hospice which provides pediatric palliative care to children and families; and the Abbotsford Hospice Society which provides grief support programs and services.

These organizations are examples of non-profits that provide the type of region-wide services that are eligible for funding. The policy was updated in February 2021 and replaced the 1999 Regional Grant-in-Aid policy.

“Updating the policy and promoting this grant funding opportunity is a great way for us to support the community groups that do good work in our region,” said Jason Lum, FVRD Chair. “I believe that establishing an annual budget and streamlining the application process will make this grant funding more accessible to the types of organizations we want to support and encourage.
