Help Shape The Regional Growth Strategy

August 4, 2021

Did you know that by 2050, the Fraser Valley’s population is expected to grow by about 60 percent? That’s approximately 200,000 more people living in the region.

With all this growth it’s important to have a strategy. The Fraser Valley Regional District is holding a public consultation on its draft Regional Growth Strategy from August 3 to September 30, 2021.

“Long-range planning is needed to help manage the anticipated growth in the FVRD which requires considerable input and collaboration with many stakeholders, including those who consider the Fraser Valley their home,” said Jason Lum, FVRD Board Chair.

The Fraser Valley Future 2050 Regional Growth Strategy is a high-level policy plan to help guide long-term growth in the region. The updated (draft) plan outlines the vision and priorities of the region, covering a wide range of interconnected topics from a regional perspective, with the goal of creating healthy, and sustainable communities.

After several years of in-depth engagement with local and Indigenous governments, and stakeholders across the region, the FVRD is inviting the public to provide feedback on the draft plan as well as weigh-in on topics, such as:

  • Affordable Housing
  • Transportation
  • Parks & Natural Areas
  • Economic Development
  • Environmental Issues
