Evacuation Order Rescinded For Othello Road

The Evacuation Order for Othello Road in Electoral Area B issued on November 28, 2021 has been rescinded for all properties listed on the order. The evacuation order cancellation also means that security will be discontinued at Othello Road.

While the Evacuation ORDER is being cancelled, there is an ongoing risk from Coquihalla River bank erosion and flooding in the area. Please note that multiple properties have been deemed unsafe for re-entry due to uninhabitable structures and lost land. A risk overview letter along with the hydrotechnical assessment report have been mailed to all the impacted properties.

The Ministry of Transportation has jurisdiction over the portion of Othello Road within the Regional District boundaries. The Ministry has established a temporary haul road. It does not have any bank protection. Please exercise caution as you drive through the area. FVRD is working with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to understand the permanent alignment, progress, and timeline for Othello Road. Updates will be shared as they become available.
