Prepare for Winter Storm

December 22, 2022

Another winter storm is expected to arrive in the Fraser Valley late Thursday, December 22 or early Friday, December 23. This weather event is expected to bring 5-20 cm of snow and transition into rain/freezing rain late Friday or early Saturday (Christmas Eve).

This weather event will create challenging travel conditions and residents are advised to avoid non-essential travel. Increasing weight on structures from ice/heavy wet snow can cause damage and lead to power outages. In the event of a power outage please consider the safety of using alternative heat sources as this may increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and structure fires.

Water pooling, localized flooding, and landslides may occur due to melting of accumulated snow from warmer temperatures and rainfall.

Make sure you have an emergency kit and an adequate supply of food and water. Please monitor current weather forecasts and alerts as weather forecasts can change rapidly.
