ISLAND 22 REGIONAL PARK: AT CAPACITY THIS LONG WEEKEND

August 29, 2025

Island 22 Regional Park is experiencing record setting visitors. Throughout the Labour Day long weekend, the Park is hosting an equestrian event and the sockeye opening (boat launch), which has resulted in the Park reaching its full capacity. Please be advised that at peak times we are anticipating limited or no parking availability.

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please consider visiting Island 22 Regional Park at another time to enjoy the trails or off-leash dog park facility. If it is necessary for you to be at Island 22 over this weekend, there are a few reminders to keep in mind:

  • Respect the signage for the Equestrian Event.
  • Single vehicles must park in the day use lot (last parking lot on the right)
  • Do not block exits or park on the dike, violators will be ticketed and/or towed
  • Follow the instructions of Traffic Control Persons

For those fishing:

  • Vehicles with boat trailers are permitted to park in the boat launch only - please ensure to park close together
  • Overnight parking is not permitted under any circumstances
  • When launching, use 4Wdrive and take it slow
  • Watch for signage indicating boat launch parking is full
  • Do not fish in the boat launch area
  • Dispose of fish remains in the river or pack it out of the Park

The FVRD thanks you for your patience and understanding during this busy weekend at Island 22.
