The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) confirms that a tragic incident occurred in Island 22 Regional Park during a period of highly unstable weather on December 15, 2025, where a visitor to the park has passed away.

Our deepest sympathies are with the grieving family during this exceptionally difficult time. We extend our sincere appreciation to the brave Samaritans and First Responders who attended the Park to render support during the tragedy.

Island 22 Regional Park will remain closed until an assessment can be completed by a professional arborist as numerous trees were damaged during the December 15, 2025, weather incident.

From a place of heavy hearts and sincere respect for those individuals impacted, no further statements by the FVRD will be provided at this time.
