EVACUATION ALERT UPGRADED TO ORDER – CANYON ALPINE AREA

Whereas a state of local emergency was declared on July 4, 2026, by the Fraser Valley Regional District pursuant to Section 95 of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act due to the Brunswick Creek Wildfire (V10742) and Ainslie Creek Wildfire (V10755) within the jurisdiction of the Fraser Valley Regional District;

And pursuant to Section 107 (1)(c) of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act;

Electoral Area A – North Bend and Canyon Alpine

  • The previously issued Evacuation Alert has been upgraded to an Evacuation ORDER for the Canyon Alpine area.
  • The previously issued evacuation order for the North Bend area remains in effect.

Electoral Area A – Boston Bar

  • The previously issued evacuation alert for the Boston Bar area remains in effect.

The Canyon Alpine area Alert is now upgraded to an Evacuation ORDER by the Fraser Valley Regional District due to immediate danger to life and safety caused by Wildfire.

This Evacuation ORDER is effective as of July 7, 2026, at 8:30pm and is in effect for the areas listed in Evacuation ORDER.

The Evacuation Orders and Alerts apply only to lands within Fraser Valley Regional District Electoral Areas. Evacuation notices for First Nations communities are issued by the respective First Nations. 

IF YOU ARE IN THE EVACUATION ORDER AREA YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA 

A person must not enter the evacuation order areas identified above and in the attached map for purposes of residing, occupying or visiting.

Despite the above, the following persons may enter and temporarily occupy the area described in this order for the purposes of responding to the emergency, preparation for general return. This order does not apply to:

  • Fraser Valley Regional District staff and contractors;
  • Canadian Pacific Kansas City Rail staff and contractors;
  • Canadian National Railway Company staff and contractors;
  • BC Wildfire Service staff and contractors;
  • Canyon Alpine Motel staff;
  • Lotus Hideaway staff.

The EOC Director with FVRD may, in writing, authorize a person or class of persons to enter and temporarily occupy the area described in this order for the purposes ofresponse to the emergency, preparation for general return, etc.

What you should do if you are in the Order Area:

  • If you have homeowners’ or tenants’ insurance, contact your insurance provider to arrange for living expenses such as accommodation and food.
  • Close all windows and doors.
  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock. Firefighters may require access to implement structure protection.
  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbor or someone needing transportation. Take travel trailers if they can be used to shelter your household members.
  • Take critical items (e.g., medicine, wallet, insurance policy number/contact.
  • Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.
  • Evacuate south via Highway 1.

What should you do if you are in the Alert Area:

  • If you are not in the area, avoid the area.
  • Follow the directions of first responders.

  • Do not call 911 for information or updates.
  • When time allows, please set up a BC Services Card app and create an account for Emergency Support Services if you require assistance. ess.gov.bc.ca

Emergency Support Services:

You are not required to attend an evacuee reception centre. If you need assistance from ESS to meet your basic needs:

  • Create a profile at ess.gov.bc.ca. If you have already created a profile, login at ess.gov.bc.ca. You will receive instructions on how to receive supports.
  • Some supports are also available through the Service BC – BC Evacuee Helpline by phone at 1-800-387-4258, including support for registering online at ESS.gov.bc.ca and authentication with the BC Services Card App.
  • People evacuated from their homes must have their identity verified using the BC Services Card App to receive ESS support through Interac e-Transfer. The BC Evacuee Helpline can assist with this process.
  • Emergency Support Services will be made available on a case-by-case basis for emergency shelter and food for residents whose primary residence is within the Evacuation Order area. If this applies to you, please advise the FVRD EOC that you have self-registered as an evacuee. A needs assessment will be performed to connect you with appropriate critically needed evacuee supports.
  • Evacuees in need of in-person support can go to Shxwhá:y Village, 44680 Schweyey Road, Chilliwack.
