FVRD Electoral Area E - Chilliwack River Valley Wildfire (V11104)

The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) Emergency Operations Centre is aware of the fire incident located on the north side of Chilliwack Lake Road and that the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department and BC Wildfire Service are responding to.

At this time, the situation is being managed as an incident, not an emergency, therefore the incident is not being coordinated through the FVRD Emergency Operations Centre. If the incident should escalate, the FVRD is ready to assist. The wildfire is currently classified as being held.

As with other incidents that can occur in the community, such as vehicle incident, downed power lines, or fallen trees, residents and area visitors may experience temporary delays getting in and out of the area. Conditions at the incident site can change quickly, and responders may need to adjust access as they work to keep everyone safe.

Being unable to return home can be frustrating and concerning. Residents can be assured that maintaining safe access to homes remains a priority of the responders. The FVRD understands through partners that the road will open to one lane alternating traffic with the assistance of traffic control persons.
