FVRD ISSUES REMINDER ASKING FOR RESIDENTS’ HELP WITH DAMAGE REPORTING

The Fraser Valley Regional (FVRD) extends its sincere appreciation to all FVRD electoral area residents who have taken the time to submit incidents on the FVRD Emergency Status Map to date. Submissions are helping the FVRD track damage caused by the December 2025 atmospheric river incident. Residents’ engagement has been instrumental in helping the FVRD have critical insight into the damage experienced across the region. The willingness of residents to take on this task reflects the strength of shared commitment for resiliency and pride in a collective effort.

Today, the FVRD is issuing a friendly reminder that the deadline for submitting reports is Friday, January 9, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.  FVRD electoral area residents are being asked to update or report damage or impacts to their private property by the deadline by visiting the FVRD Emergency Status Map. For convenience, electoral area residents can report information 24 hours a day prior to the deadline. The information submitted through the FVRD Emergency Status Map reinforces the required reporting by the FVRD to the Province of British Columbia in an effort to have the incident considered an authorized event for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA).

The type of damage on private property that is helpful to report:

  • localized flooding
  • water in basements or crawlspaces
  • debris flow
  • landslides
  • downed trees
  • other damages

The Fraser Valley Regional (FVRD) has extended the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) declaration for an additional period to January 21, 2026. The SOLE applies to the area spanning west from Allison Pool to the western boundary of Electoral Area E. The extension supports the prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to protect the health, safety, or well-being of persons or the safety of property, objects, or sites of heritage value.

The FVRD Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) staff continue to monitor and remain in a state of readiness. The EOC Public Information Line (778-704-0400) continues to receive messages.
