ATMOSPHERIC RIVER UPDATE

The aftermath of the atmospheric river is posing an existing or imminent threat to people and property within the area known as Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) Electoral Area E. On December, 10th the FVRD declared a State of Local Emergency (SOLE) for FVRD Electoral Area E to support prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to protect the health, safety or well-being of persons or the safety of property or objects or sites of heritage value. This state of Local Emergency remains in place.
The Evacuation ORDER and ALERT for the area of Electoral Area E - Wilson Road issued on December,10th is still in effect. People must leave the Evacuation Order area immediately and be ready to leave the Evacuation Alert area on short notice or if they feel unsafe. For those evacuated, please visit https://ess.gov.bc.ca/ to self-register for Emergency Support Services.
The FVRD Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) continues to operate. To contact the EOC Public Information Line, dial 778-704-0400.
The FVRD would like to remind residents to stay safe and take precautions during this time. Please stay away from swift-running rivers and unstable banks. Due to the soil saturation, expect possible erosion and debris slides.

The FVRD is the third most populous regional district in British Columbia and one of twenty-seven throughout the province. The FVRD delivers over 100 services to approximately 340,000 residents across a land base of 13,361 square kilometers. The FVRD’s eight electoral areas include all of the unincorporated communities on the north and south sides of the Fraser River, reaching up beyond the Nahatlatch River in the north and extending down to the U.S. border in the south.
