Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) Launches Dedicated Facebook Page for Emergency Incident Information
CHILLIWACK, BC – FVRD has launched a dedicated Facebook page for official emergency preparedness, response, and recovery information.
The new Facebook page FVRD - Emergency Management Organization, will provide residents, businesses, and visitors to Fraser Valley Regional District Electoral Areas with one clear location to find timely emergency updates, safety information, impacts to services during emergency incidents, evacuation alert and evacuation order information, recovery resources, preparedness education, and links to detailed incident information on the FVRD emergency operations webpage.
“The new FVRD EMO Facebook page strengthens our ability to share timely, actionable information during an emergency,” said Jennifer Kinneman, CAO. “It is one part of a broader communications approach that includes our EOC webpage, Alertable, media updates, and collaboration with valued emergency incident response partners.” she said.
The new FVRD EMO Facebook page will be used year-round to share preparedness information and will become a primary social media channel for official updates during FVRD emergency incidents.
FVRD Electoral Area residents are encouraged to follow FVRD - Emergency Management Organization.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the FVRD launching a separate Emergency Facebook page?
A dedicated Facebook page provides residents with one reliable place to find FVRD emergency incident information. It also assists with keeping urgent updates distinct from regular FVRD news and community content.
Is it wise to launch a new Emergency Facebook page now?
With the prolonged emergency and the ongoing need to provide timely, reliable information across all eight FVRD Electoral Areas, we anticipate our audience will appreciate having access to a clear and trusted dedicated EOC Facebook page for emergency incidents. The fall season is approaching and the FVRD will be entering a period that includes a general local election and other significant community communications. The dedicated EOC Facebook page will help to separate urgent emergency updates from daily FVRD messaging thus making it easier for people to find verified information quickly while also preserving the main FVRD Facebook page for consistent outreach to Electoral Area communities with the broader corporate and community communications.
Will FVRD corporate social media accounts still share emergency information?
The FVRD EOC Facebook page will be treated as the primary social media for FVRD emergency incidents.
What type of information will be posted on the FVRD EMO Facebook page?
The page will share preparedness, response, recovery, evacuation order, evacuation alert, reception centre, and ESS information, along with links to official emergency incident updates.
Is Facebook the only source of emergency information?
No, the FVRD EOC webpage at www.fvrd.ca/eoc is the primary source of information for emergency incidents. The FVRD also utilizes Alertable, news releases, signage, community partners, and other communication tools depending on the need.
What should residents do in an immediate emergency?
If there is an immediate threat to life and safety, call 9-1-1. Social media comments should not be relied on for emergency incident assistance. Sign up with or download the app with Alertable to receive emergency notifications during critical incidents.
