- Cell phone reception may be unreliable.
- Lock your vehicle and keep valuables out of sight.
- Remain on designated trails.
- Be prepared to encounter wildlife, including bears and cougars. Take the time to learn how to be safe when outdoors.
- In parks where dogs are permitted, keep them leashed outside of off-leash areas.

Pets
FVRD parks are special places for people and wildlife alike. We welcome responsible pet ownership in most of our regional parks and trails, and we ask that visitors follow a few simple guidelines to help protect the environment, wildlife, and the safety of all park users.
General Rules for Pets in FVRD Parks and Trails
To help everyone enjoy our parks safely and respectfully, all pet owners must follow these rules:
- Pets must be kept on a leash at all times, unless otherwise posted in off-leash dog areas.
- Pets and people must stay on designated trails to protect the natural environments of parks and trails.
- Clean up after your pet. Pet waste can harm water quality, wildlife, and other visitors' experience. Please use the waste bins provided, or pack it out with you.
- Pets must be under control at all times.
- Horses are permitted at Island 22 in the designated equestrian area. Riders are responsible for staying on approved trails and avoiding damage to sensitive areas.
Help Keep Parks Safe and Enjoyable for All
By following these guidelines, you’re helping ensure that our parks remain safe, clean, and welcoming for all visitors, humans and animals alike. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and steward of these natural spaces.
