Volunteer firefighters are your neighbours, co-workers and friends. They are caring and dedicated individuals who are prepared to come to your aid whenever they are called to do so. We rely heavily on our volunteers to assist with fire protection in the small rural communities of our electoral areas.

To apply, you must:
Be 19 years of age or older at the time of application.
Live or work within, or within close proximity, to the boundaries of the applicable volunteer fire department.
Be able to perform for duties required of a member.
Be a Canadian Citizen, or is otherwise legally entitled to reside and work in Canada.
Submit a completed volunteer firefighter application.
Hold a valid BC Driver's License (Class 5).
Comply with the FVRD's Driver License Abstracts Policy.
Comply with the FVRD's Criminal Record Check Policy, including a vulnerable sector check.
Within one year of appointment, successfully complete the volunteer fire department's basic training program, meet the required performance expectations and compentencies, and satisfactorily complete the probationary period in accordance with FVRD Volunteer Fire Department Established and Regulation Bylaw No. 1803, 2025.
