Electoral Area B Curbside Collection
Starting January 5th, 2026, Valley Waste and Recycling Inc. will take over the Curbside collection service, providing garbage, recycling and organic waste collection to all Electoral Area B residents (except Sunshine Valley) and to individual First Nations in this area on a contract basis.
Garbage and Recycling collection alternates weekly, and Organic waste is collected weekly. Streams are collected by one split-body truck. The Regional District will supply collection carts.
Special Notice: Collection carts will be delivered mid-December before the service changes. Residents with active utility accounts will receive three collection carts, one for each stream. Residents without active utility accounts who wish to receive the service must fill out an application form and submit it to the Engineering Department. Click on this PDF link:

General Rules
- Collections carts must use FVRD issued collection carts and sort waste according to the appropriately labelled collection bin. Garbage-Black lid, Recycling-Blue lid, Organics-Green lid. Waste set out for collection outside of the collection carts will not be collected.
- Collection Carts must be set out by 7:00 am on collection days in full view of and within 2 meters of the shoulder, curb, or street.
- Please ensure that your street address is posted on your property and clearly visible from the road
- Lids of collection carts must be fully closed and latched when set out at the curb.
Garbage
- Garbage will be collected every two weeks alternating with Recycling.
- Please place accepted garbage materials in the collection cart with the black lid, labelled garbage.
Recycling
- Unlimited number of blue bags
- All recyclables should be placed in a blue, see-through plastic bag and securely tied
- Bulky cardboard boxes must be broken down, flattened, tied and may be placed under the blue bag

Organics
- Organics will be collected weekly.
- Please place organic waste in the collection cart with the green lid labelled organics.
