Affordable Housing & Homelessness

Housing & Homelessness

Communities throughout the region face increasing pressures related to housing affordability, homelessness, poverty, and other social issues.

The number of people and families in core housing need, experiencing homelessness, or at risk of housing continues to increase throughout the region.

Advocacy, Policy & Research

Local governments lack the resources, expertise, and authority to undertake this work on their own.

Community partnerships, investments, and actions by all levels of government are needed to address the complex needs associated with housing and homelessness.

The FVRD supports local affordable housing and homelessness initiatives through advocacy, policy, and research, which includes regional point-in-time homeless counts, affordable housing inventories, and policies within the Regional Growth Strategy (RGS).
